Run England becomes RunTogether
RunTogether has been created by England Athletics, the National Governing Body (NGB) for running and athletics, to provide fun, friendly supportive and inclusive running opportunities for everyone in England. Over the next couple of months, this will be taking over the existing Run Cornwall programme.
All of the programmes, such as 'Groups' and 'Routes' and services such as 'Find and Guide' and 'Mental Health Ambassadors' share a common theme. They have been created to help people to run with others. Running with others can provide motivation, guidance and supports, as well as making it more fun.
Why is running together better?
Quite simply the more you run, the greater chance that you will continue to run. There are 8 million people that have previously run but are currently not taking part. It isn't until someone runs on a monthly basis that participation starts to become routine. Once this monthly routine becomes weekly, the runner has then established a strong habit.
To help with the transition, we will be holding two RunTogether forums and workshops during November 2016. These are aimed at all run leaders (LiRFs), coaches and assistant coaches and is highly recommended that someone from running groups or clubs attend one of the sessions.
The evenings will be split into two sections. The first part of the evening is aimed at introducing the new RunTogether Programme which is being launch by England Athletics in January. The second part of the session will be practical based and will focus on Cool downs, Session Planning and Risk Assessments.
