Losing Sight of Shore Inspires a Packed Truro Cinema
Losing Sight of Shore follows the extraordinary journey of four brave women known as the Coxless Crew who set out to row the Pacific Ocean from America to Australia unsupported.
One of the four women and the Team Leader who created the challenge is Laura Penhaul from Redruth Cornwall, last night (Tuesday 16th May 2017) a packed Truro Cinema saw a special screening of their amazingly inspirational journey.
The vision of The Coxless Crew challenge was to generate awareness of women who face extreme adversity and to raise funds to support their journey towards long-term health and wellbeing.
Laura Penhaul said: "Never did I imagine I would be sitting in my local cinema with a packed crowd of friends & family, and be able to share our journey on such a beautiful platform that Sarah Moshman has created with Losing Sight of Shore.
To think our journey can provide motivation and inspiration to get greater sport participation in Cornwall is an outcome that has far exceeded my expectations of what our row has achieved. I am very proud to be Cornish and very proud to see women getting involved whole-heartedly in the This Girl Can Campaign, because 'ANY girl CAN'!"
Hosted by Victoria Leigh from Heart FM who followed the girl's journey on Twitter said: "Far greater than the physical journey this is a beautiful film about tenacity, spirit, commitment, friendship and resolution. These incredible
women are the role models our daughters should be looking up to. They are the embodiment of the This Girl Can campaign and their story never fails to amaze and inspire me".
Cornwall Sports Partnership organised the screening with Laura, linking the film in with the This Girl Can campaign aiming to inspire females to be more active. The evening started with a showing of the advert and the audience were asked to take the message back to their own community and inspire females they know to move more in their daily lives.
Losing Sight of Shore is available to watch on Netflix and to buy on Amazon and iTunes.
