Growing the contribution of sport to the local economy

Sport is important to the economy of Cornwall with around 6,000 people in sports related employment having a direct economic value of £156.6million. Sport in Cornwall accounts for 2.5% of total employment, which is higher than the rest of the South West and England and is continuing to grow.

Cornwall is now the 4th most active area of the country as sports participation has risen faster in recent years than the rest of the country.

Economic Value of sport in Cornwall

On the back of these positive results Cornwall Sports Partnership working with the Local Enterprise Partnership would like to grow the contribution of sport to the economy further and have published a consultation document - Sport and the Local Economy (please find below).

We would now like to hear the views of organisations with an interest in the sport economy of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly about potential projects they feel would help with the growth of the sector. Responses are required by Wednesday 24th September 2014 using the following link:
