Head of Student Services
Truro and Penwith College

What skills & experience do you bring to the CSP Board?
I have a strong background in education, having taught children, young people and adults during my career.  I keep abreast of educational policy changes across all phases and am keen to see that young people have a voice in sport.

My role involves providing specialist support to students aged 16-19.  The team includes safeguarding officers, mental health advisors, career advisors,
counsellors and personal support advisors.

Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I was born in the Home Counties and grew up near London.  I moved away to North Wales to study and fell in love with wild countryside and coastal areas.  Teacher training brought me to Cornwall and I have been here ever since.  I consider myself fortunate in having found not only a beautiful place to call home but a fantastic community in which to live.

I qualified as a PE Teacher but my specialism revolves around sport science and I am also a qualified Sports Massage Therapist.  I have been in educational management for the last 10 years.

What do you like to do in your free/spare time?
In my free time I enjoy being physically active and participate in a number of sports.  I particularly enjoy running, cycling, both on and off road and I love adventure races.  I am also involved in a surf lifesaving club and although I have never understood the joys of swimming I give it a go once a week.
